Michael Dayton is a club-level driver and FIA Bronze amateur competing in national solo sprint racing across multiple multiclass championships. His primary machinery is a BMW E30 saloon, raced in NASA's CMC and GTS2 classes; he also campaigns a GT4 car in IMSA VP Racing SportsCar Challenge. His longest tenure is in NASA, where he has competed since 2008.[1]
Dayton has raced for nineteen seasons across four series, starting with BMW CCA Club Racing in 2007 where he won the IP class championship in 2008 and took two wins from fourteen starts. His primary focus has been NASA, where he has made 130 starts with 4 wins and 36 podiums across sixteen seasons. He joined SCCA Regionals in 2023 and has eight IMSA VP Racing SportsCar Challenge starts with Swish Motorsports from 2024. In 2022 he made a single appearance in the Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie, a shared-drive endurance event.[2]
Dayton races in fields mixing amateurs with entry-level and established professionals. His regular opponents include Jason Griscavage, the 2025 NASA Spec E30 champion and a competitive amateur who typically finishes ahead of him, and Robert Grace, a four-time NASA Spec E30 champion and entry-level professional. Dayton has beaten professional-level drivers including Moisey Uretsky, who holds credentials in IMSA Pilot Challenge and Porsche Carrera Cup NA, and Gregory Liefooghe, an FIA Silver driver with extensive IMSA Pilot Challenge experience. In the current 2026 SCCA Regionals season, Dayton sits 32nd in the standings after five of the scheduled rounds.
