Michael Smith races at club level, competing in national American motorsport across solo sprint series and shared-car endurance racing. His primary focus is NASA, where he has spent most of his 13 seasons on record; he also races SCCA Regionals in V8 pony cars, and has made occasional appearances in American Endurance Racing in production-based machinery.[1]

Smith's record spans 76 starts from 2011 to the present, yielding 10 wins and 29 podiums. His most consistent results have come in SCCA Regionals, where he has won seven of his fifteen starts and finished on the podium in twelve of them. In NASA, a series where he raced primarily for BMW across 51 starts, he took two wins and fifteen podiums. His endurance racing career in American Endurance Racing yielded one win from seven starts, competing in shared-driver cars in Classes 2, 3 and Daytona.[2]

Smith runs closely matched against regular opponents at his level; he splits results with competitive amateur Chris Graham, who has 97 NASA starts and nine in American Endurance Racing, and with club-level Benjamin Miller, a 125-start NASA regular. His strongest scalp is entry-level professional Samantha Tan, the 2024 GT World Challenge America Pro-Am champion, whom Smith has beaten once across their meetings.
