Nigel Faulkner is a competitive amateur racing in multiclass endurance competition and single-driver sprint racing. He spent four seasons from 2017 to 2020 racing American Endurance Racing, a multiclass championship where production-based cars share the track across multiple classes, and the Whelen Mazda MX-5 Cup presented by Michelin, in which he drove a Mazda MX-5 Cup car solo. With McCumbee McAleer Racing he contested the MX-5 Cup in 2018.[1]
Across 30 starts he took 5 wins and 10 podiums. In American Endurance Racing he claimed all five of those wins and eight podiums from 18 starts across its Class 3, Class 4 and Class 5 categories. In the Whelen Mazda MX-5 Cup he scored two additional podiums from 12 starts, finishing 24th in the championship standings for the season.[2]
Against the regulars he raced, Faulkner typically finished behind Robert Noaker, a professional and two-time Mustang Challenge champion with 52 starts in the MX-5 Cup, and behind Nikko Reger, the 2018 MX-5 Cup champion. He did finish ahead of Patrick Gallagher, the 2017 MX-5 Cup champion and established professional, once across their races together, and beat Michael Dinan, a professional with IMSA WeatherTech and WEC experience, twice in their meetings.
