Palermo is an entry-level professional racing driver whose career has centred on national multiclass sprint racing in the United States. He spent twelve seasons competing across NASA championships, the Whelen Mazda MX-5 Cup, and SCCA Majors, driving Mazda MX-5 Miatas in spec trim, production-based touring cars, and one-design Spec Racer Fords. His primary affiliation was with Slipstream Performance.[1]
His 165 starts yielded 16 wins and 36 podiums, with the bulk of his success coming in NASA between 2011 and 2019, where he took 16 wins across 89 starts in a multiclass field that ran from amateurs to graded professionals. His competitive record against established rivals shows he regularly finished ahead of entry-level and competitive amateur drivers; he beat the established professional and FIA Gold-graded Connor Zilisch three times and the professional Robby Foley twice in their meetings, though neither matchup was sustained. In his longest single-series stint, the Whelen Mazda MX-5 Cup from 2016 to 2023, he managed a single podium across 74 starts, finishing sixteenth in the final championship he contested in 2023.[2]
