Paul Knapfield was an entry-level professional racing driver from the Netherlands competing in endurance sportscar racing. Between 2001 and 2004 he contested the FIA GT Championship, a multiclass series mixing amateur and professional drivers in shared-car racing, where he started 16 times for Konrad Motorsport and latterly Lister Storm Racing.[1]
Across four seasons Knapfield took a single podium finish. He finished 35th in the 2004 championship standings, his final year in indexed racing. In a field that included 2004 FIA GT champion Luca Cappellari and professional drivers such as Christian Pescatori, both of whom he regularly faced, Knapfield typically finished behind them. He did on occasion beat stronger opposition; he finished ahead of Fabrizio Gollin, also a 2004 FIA GT champion, twice across their meetings, and once ahead of Alain Menu, an established professional with an extensive World Touring Car Championship record.[2]
