He competed in single-seater racing across the FIA Formula 3 European Championship and Formula 3 Macau between 2014 and 2016, driving for ThreeBond with T-Sport. His 31 starts came in fields that mixed amateur and semi-professional entrants with graded professionals.[1]
Chang finished 24th in the 2016 FIA Formula 3 European standings in what proved his final season of indexed racing. Across his three seasons he was a regular opponent for established professionals including Felix Rosenqvist, the 2015 FIA Formula 3 European champion, and Sergio Sette Camara, though he typically finished behind both. He beat Charles Leclerc, a generational driver now racing in Formula 1, once across their meetings in the FIA Formula 3 European Championship.[2]
