Guerrieri started six rounds in Star Mazda that season and finished 20th in the championship standings. He regularly finished ahead of John Pew, an established professional and FIA Silver-graded driver who had extensive experience in IMSA and Star Mazda. Against Adrian Carrio, the 2006 Star Mazda champion, Guerrieri typically finished behind him across their shared races.[2]
