Federico Montoya is an entry-level professional who raced in single-seater motorsport. He competed in the Formula Renault Eurocup, a mixed-category championship drawing amateurs, semi-professionals and graded professionals to the same grid, driving for Jenzer Motorsport.[1]
His sole indexed season came in 2005, when he started 14 rounds of the Formula Renault Eurocup and finished 26th in the championship standings. He raced regularly against established professionals; he typically finished behind Yann Clairay, a Silver-graded driver with 23 prior starts in the series, and Bertrand Baguette, a Platinum-graded professional and two-time champion across Formula V8 3.5 and Super GT. He beat Davide Valsecchi and Jaime Alguersuari once each, both established professionals who would go on to stronger careers in GP2 and Formula 1 respectively.[2]
