Peter Schmidt is an entry-level professional racing in national and international multiclass endurance championships. A Bronze-graded driver, he spent a decade in shared-car GT3 and production-car racing for Car Collection Motorsport, competing primarily in the Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie from 2010 to 2017 and making six starts in the 24H Series between 2017 and 2019. His record across both series totals 60 starts and 4 podiums.[1]
Schmidt finished consistently mid-field against a regular grid that included entry-level professionals and amateurs sharing multiclass races. He was a regular opponent to Sabine Schmitz and Klaus Abbelen, both of whom won the Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie SP 9 class in 2014; he typically finished behind them. His strongest finishes came against established professionals: he beat Laurens Vanthoor, a Platinum-graded driver and multiple IMSA and WEC champion, in one encounter, and Maro Engel, a Platinum-graded GT World Challenge Europe champion, once as well. These were isolated results in endurance races where shared-car entries and multiclass fields could place drivers of different calibres in close competition; his regular record against the front-running professionals he raced most often reflects a driver operating at a more modest level.[2]
