Philo Paz Armand is a semi-professional driver whose rating of 3,584 places him in the competitive amateur band; he raced against established professionals in strong feeder series but consistently finished behind them, rarely reaching the points. Across 26 starts over five seasons from 2011 to 2016, Armand never won a race or podium finish. His most substantial campaign came in GP2 Series in 2016, where he started 15 times for Trident Motorsport but averaged mid-field finishes in a grid that included multiple future champions and series winners.[1]
Armand's record shows the scale of the step between his level and the drivers he competed alongside. He shared 21 races with Oliver Rowland, a Formula V8 3.5 champion who would later reach Formula E; Armand finished ahead of him not once. Against Nicholas Latifi and Raffaele Marciello, both Platinum graded professionals and established winners, his record was similarly one-sided. He did finish ahead of Antonio Giovinazzi in one race, though Giovinazzi won the 2016 GP2 championship that same year. Isolated instances of beating world-class drivers like Charles Leclerc and Alexander Albon came once each and do not alter the picture of a driver outmatched in his primary series.[2]
Armand's competitive history traces through the single-seater ladder: Formula Renault Eurocup with three starts in 2014, Formula V8 3.5 with seven starts in 2015, and GP2 with 15 starts in 2016, alongside one karting appearance at the SKUSA SuperNationals in 2011. His average finishing position of P17.4 reflects his status as a mid-pack runner in fields where the front runners went on to professional racing at the highest level. He retired after 2016.
