Gelael's career trajectory shows a path through junior single-seaters that did not produce wins or sustained podium finishes. He raced Formula 3 European, Formula 3 Macau, and then GP2 Series and Formula V8 3.5 without entering victory lane; his sole podium from those categories came in GP2. A move to Formula 2 from 2017 to 2020 yielded only one podium across 80 starts, placing him outside the level of consistent race winners in that series.
