Sami-Matti Trogen, a Finnish driver, raced professional-level endurance and sportscar championships at national level. Graded FIA Silver, he competed entirely for Walkenhorst Motorsport across four seasons from 2020 to 2023, piloting GT3 cars in the Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie and turbocharged or GT3 machinery in the Nürburgring 24 Hours. Both were multiclass championships in which he shared his car with co-drivers across endurance races held in Germany.[1]
Trogen made eleven starts across both series, taking three podiums in the Langstrecken-Serie across his four campaigns. He was a regular fixture at the Nürburgring, a venue that hosted the endurance-racing equivalent of a mixed professional and semi-professional field. His most recent racing came in 2023.[2]
The field he inhabited included established professionals and Platinum-graded drivers who had raced at the highest levels of sportscar racing. Trogen finished ahead of Laurens Vanthoor, a three-time major-series champion with over a hundred combined IMSA and WEC starts, and Matt Campbell, a champion of both WEC and IMSA with multiple major-series titles to his name. Among regulars, he was closely matched with Frank Stippler, the 2021 Langstrecken-Serie SP 9 Pro champion and a Platinum-graded professional, and with Vincent Kolb, another Silver-graded driver in the same championship.
