Sascha Maassen was a professional endurance racing driver graded Silver by the FIA, competing primarily in the FIA GT Championship between 1998 and 2009 with Trackspeed Racing and Freisinger Motorsport. He also raced in Formula 3 Macau in the early 1990s for West Surrey Racing, a single-driver championship that mixed amateur and professional competitors.[1]
Across 13 seasons and 41 starts, Maassen took one win and five podiums. He won in Formula 3 Macau early in his career and scored four additional podiums there across seven starts between 1993 and 1995. His FIA GT Championship tenure yielded a single podium from 34 starts across endurance races with shared cars, with his final indexed appearance coming in 2009 when he finished 29th in the season standings.[2]
In the FIA GT Championship he was closely matched with entry-level professional Gerold Ried but typically finished behind established professional Karl Wendlinger, a Gold-graded driver and 1999 FIA GT champion.
