Jimmie Johnson is a professional driver racing part-time in NASCAR's Cup Series for Legacy Motor Club, a team he co-owns. He races the No. 84 Toyota on oval tracks almost exclusively, competing in a field that spans amateur and semi-professional entrants through to graded professionals. Johnson holds Platinum status under the FIA's endurance grading system and rates 4,734 on the Elo scale.[1]

Johnson's indexed record runs across 28 seasons from 1998 to 2026 and totals 268 starts. His three wins have come in NASCAR Xfinity, the Cup Series and the 2023 World Endurance Championship; his 15 podiums span Xfinity, Cup, IndyCar, IMSA WeatherTech and WEC. His Cup Series tenure, from 2018 onwards, holds 136 starts, one win and seven podiums. He spent 2021 and 2022 racing in both IndyCar, where he started 29 times on a mix of ovals and road courses, and IMSA WeatherTech's DPi class, where he took three podiums in eight starts in a shared prototype. His early career in NASCAR Xfinity, from 1998 to 2013 for JR Motorsports, produced 93 starts, one win and four podiums.[2]

Johnson most regularly encounters Kevin Harvick and Kyle Busch, both established professionals and multiple Cup Series champions. He typically finishes behind both. He has finished ahead of Alex Palou, the five-time IndyCar champion, five times across their IndyCar meetings, and ahead of Denny Hamlin, the 2025 Cup Series champion, on 39 occasions in Cup racing. Herzog Motorsports, which fields his majority of starts, has won once across the index and has fielded only Johnson as a driver.
