He competed in International GT, piloting a 981-generation Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport in the CAY3.8 class across 14 starts from 2022 to 2023, and made three appearances in SCCA Majors T3 class in 2021. His total career record comprised 17 starts and three podium finishes before retiring.[1]
In International GT, Azpurua collected all three of his career podiums across the 2022 and 2023 seasons. He regularly competed against Joe Rizzo, a semi-professional with 25 starts in the series, and finished closely matched in their encounters. Against Thomas Bigony, another club-level regular with 30 International GT starts, Azpurua typically finished ahead. He recorded finishes over Trent Hindman, a professional and FIA Gold-graded driver who won the 2019 IMSA WeatherTech GTD championship and the 2022 IMSA Pilot Challenge GS title across extensive experience in professional sportscar racing, and beat Stevan McAleer, a professional also graded FIA Gold and 2026 IMSA Pilot Challenge GS champion, on two occasions.[2]
