Rodrigo Azpurua was a semi-professional motorsports competitor who raced in International GT during 2022 and 2023. Across fourteen starts over two seasons, he scored three podium finishes but did not win a race. His average finishing position of fifth overall places him in the upper half of the field in a series populated chiefly by ungraded amateurs and gentleman drivers, though the grid includes drivers with mixed experience from stronger IMSA championships.[1]

Azpurua's head-to-head record against regular rivals was uneven. Against club-level drivers such as Thomas Bigony and Ariel Aufgang he ran competitively, finishing ahead in the majority of their meetings. His record against mid-field professionals proved more difficult; he finished behind Joe Rizzo and Maria Mejia more often than ahead. Most notably, Azpurua occasionally finished ahead of considerably stronger drivers: he beat FIA Gold-graded professional Stevan McAleer twice and Trent Hindman, a two-time champion and FIA Gold driver, once. He also finished ahead of Spencer Pumpelly, a FIA Gold professional and former champion, three times across their meetings. These results against elite-level competition, though sporadic within his broader record, suggest capability beyond his immediate peer group.

The driver's career ended after the 2023 season. His final year in International GT consisted of eight rounds with no podiums and a P16 finish, a decline from his earlier form. He is now retired from competition.
