Ronnie Silver was a professional competing in NASCAR Xfinity over eight seasons from 1982 to 1989, racing exclusively on the circuit's oval tracks. He accumulated 182 starts across that span, taking two wins and seven podiums in a series that fielded amateurs, semi-professionals and graded professionals in the same races.[1]
Silver's career saw him consistently mid-pack against the field's regulars. He finished behind entry-level professionals Tommy Houston and Jack Ingram, a two-time Xfinity champion, in their frequent meetings. However, he beat established professional Sam Ard seven times, who won the Xfinity title in 1983 and 1984, and took two finishes ahead of Eddie Johnson, a professional driver who also raced Formula 1. His final indexed season came in 1989, when he competed in ten rounds and finished 26th in the championship standings.[2]
