Jack Pennington was a professional racing driver who competed in NASCAR Xfinity, a national single-class championship run on oval tracks with a mixed field of amateur, semi-professional and professional drivers. He raced in 1989, his only season on the indexed record.[1]
Pennington made six starts in NASCAR Xfinity that year and finished 28th in the championship standings with one podium. He raced against a field that included the 1989 series champion Rob Moroso, whom he beat once despite typically finishing behind him, and Mark Martin, a much more experienced competitor with over two hundred starts in the series to Pennington's six; he finished ahead of Martin on multiple occasions. He also took a finish ahead of Elton Sawyer, a driver who would go on to race the series extensively.[2]
