Mark Martin is a retired American stock car driver who raced primarily in NASCAR Xfinity, a single-class national championship run on ovals. He competed across 25 seasons from 1982 to 2015, most notably for Roush Racing, and holds a Racer Rating of 4,516, placing him at professional level. He is graded Bronze by the FIA, a rating that applies to his later endurance work rather than his primary stock car career.[1]
Martin's record spans 249 starts across NASCAR Xfinity and PCA Club Racing, with 50 wins and 94 podiums. In NASCAR Xfinity, he made 236 starts over three decades, taking 49 wins and 90 podiums; he raced almost entirely on ovals, with only two starts on road or street courses. His success came primarily against regular competitors in that series, where he typically finished ahead of drivers such as Elton Sawyer and Jason Keller, both professionals with hundreds of Xfinity starts apiece. He also finished ahead of stronger drivers who moved through the series, including Tony Stewart on 28 occasions and Denny Hamlin, now an elite professional and 2025 NASCAR Cup Series champion, 14 times. His final indexed racing came in PCA Club Racing, a multiclass national championship in which he took a win and three podiums from his final three starts in 2015, racing Porsches in the GT1, GT3S and GTA2 classes.[2]
