Kosuke Matsuura is a Japanese professional sportscar driver with a Racer Rating of 4,218, placing him at the professional level; this means he competes full-time in championships where he regularly encounters and beats semi-professional and amateur drivers, though he is outpaced by the strongest professionals in his field. His career spans 23 seasons and 152 starts across three series, with the vast majority of his racing concentrated in Super GT, where he has competed since 2008. Across all series combined, he has recorded two wins and three podiums.[1]

Matsuura's primary record is in Super GT, where he has completed 116 starts for JLOC since 2008. His two wins and all three of his career podiums have come in this series, though he has not won a championship. Throughout his Super GT tenure he has competed alongside established professionals; his head-to-head records against regular rivals reveal a broadly level field, most notably Nobuteru Taniguchi (finished ahead 58 times, behind 55 times in 113 shared races) and Tatsuya Kataoka (56 ahead, 56 behind in 112 shared races). Against the very strongest drivers in Super GT, such as Yuhi Sekiguchi and Kazuya Oshima, both multiple champions, Matsuura has consistently finished behind them across more than 100 shared starts each. He does, however, hold a demonstrable record against some elite professional drivers; he finished ahead of Sho Tsuboi, a three-time Super GT champion, in 17 races across their career overlaps, and managed isolated results against IndyCar champion Alex Palou during their time in the same series. His earlier career included a spell in IndyCar from 2006 to 2009, yielding 32 starts but no wins or podiums, and four Formula 3 Macau entries in 2001 and 2002 with Prema Powerteam.
