Hideki Yamauchi is a professional driver competing in Super GT for R&D Sport, racing turbocharged Japanese-built GT300 specials in the series' two-class endurance format. Graded FIA Gold, he has spent nineteen seasons in professional and semi-professional racing across single-seater and endurance categories since 2008. His primary focus has been Super GT, where he has accumulated 127 starts for R&D Sport alongside brief excursions into Formula 3 and the Nürburgring 24 Hours.[1]
Yamauchi won the 2021 Super GT GT300 championship alongside teammate Takuto Iguchi. Across his Super GT career he has taken four wins and twenty-three podiums from 127 starts. He has also raced twice in the Nürburgring 24 Hours, winning once and taking two podiums from those entries. His earlier single-seater racing, across Formula 3 Macau and the FIA Formula 3 European championship, yielded eight starts without wins. Currently in the 2026 Super GT season, he is four rounds in.[2]
Against the regular opposition in Super GT, Yamauchi holds even records with both Nobuteru Taniguchi, a three-time GT300 champion and established professional, and Shinichi Takagi, the 2019 GT300 champion. He has also finished ahead of Alex Palou and Mitch Evans, both elite professionals with multiple championships in IndyCar and Formula E respectively, though these meetings have been occasional rather than recurring. The GT300 field mixes professionals, semi-professionals and amateurs; Yamauchi's sustained podium rate and title achievement place him among its stronger regular entrants.
