Cooper MacNeil is a semi-professional endurance racing driver, graded FIA Silver, who competed primarily in the IMSA WeatherTech championship for WeatherTech Racing from 2014 to 2023, driving GT3 and GTE cars in multiclass grids shared by amateurs and professionals. He also raced in the World Endurance Championship, the European Le Mans Series, the 24 Hours Series, and Ferrari Challenge during his career, which spanned twelve indexed seasons from 2011 to 2023. MacNeil has retired from full-time competition.[1]
Across 106 starts, MacNeil took nine wins and twenty-six podiums. His primary wins came in IMSA WeatherTech, where he scored seven victories in eighty-seven starts, and in the 24 Hours Series, where he won the one race he entered. In the World Endurance Championship he took three podiums from nine starts across 2013 to 2022, including a finish at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. His most recent competition was a partial WEC season in 2022, where he started one round and scored a podium, finishing sixteenth in the championship standings.[2]
MacNeil's record places him among regular competitors against drivers of varying standing. He raced frequently against Andy Lally, a professional graded FIA Gold with extensive single-seater and stock-car experience, and was closely matched with him. He also met regularly Ben Keating, a multi-series champion in IMSA WeatherTech, WEC and the 24 Hours Series, on even terms. Among stronger opposition, MacNeil finished ahead of Kyle Kirkwood, an elite professional and IndyCar regular who won three championships in junior open-wheel racing, twice in their meetings, and beat Laurens Vanthoor, an elite Platinum-graded professional and three-time series champion, on one occasion. He spent thirty of his eighty-seven IMSA starts with Scuderia Corsa, which fielded thirty-five drivers across the index and won fourteen races, including work with established professional Sam Bird.
