🇯🇵 Nobuteru Taniguchi

Nobuteru Taniguchi is an established professional racing in Japan's Super GT series, a multiclass endurance championship where GT300 cars shared by multiple drivers race alongside the faster GT500 class. Taniguchi has been a mainstay of Goodsmile Racing & Team Ukyo for the bulk of his career, which spans 19 seasons from 2008 to the present. He holds an FIA Silver grading, placing him below the full-professional Gold and Platinum grades within sportscar racing. His Racer Rating of 5,252 reflects an established professional competing regularly against strong company.[1]

Taniguchi won three Super GT championships in the GT300 class; in 2011 with Team Ukyo, then in 2014 and 2017 with Goodsmile Racing & Team Ukyo. Across 146 Super GT starts he has taken 13 wins and 38 podiums. He also contested the World Touring Car Championship for two seasons in 2009 and 2010, where he made 8 starts in single-driver sprint racing before stepping away from that category. He moved into European endurance racing in 2025 with a single start in GT World Challenge Europe alongside his ongoing Super GT commitments.[2]

Taniguchi races consistently alongside drivers of equivalent standing and those ranked higher. His regular opponents in Super GT include Shinichi Takagi, the 2019 GT300 champion, against whom he has run closely matched, and Morio Nitta, another Silver-graded professional whom he typically finishes ahead of. He has also finished ahead of elite-level drivers including Sho Tsuboi, a five-time Super GT champion and multiple-time Super Formula champion; and Alex Palou, the five-time IndyCar champion, each on multiple occasions in shared-car endurance racing where both drivers' pace and consistency contributed to the result.
