🇨🇭 Philippe Favre

Philippe Favre was an established professional racing driver competing in single-seater and endurance championships during the late 1980s and 1990s. He raced in International Formula 3000, a single-class solo championship, between 1989 and 1990 for First Racing, and later moved to the FIA GT Championship in 2000, where he competed in shared-drive endurance racing for Lister Storm Racing.[1]

Across his indexed career, Favre took three podium finishes from 18 starts. In Formula 3000 he managed one podium in ten starts against a mixed-level field. His endurance career proved more productive; he finished ninth in the 1989 FIA GT Championship standings with two podium finishes from eight rounds, establishing himself in that category. His most notable results came against drivers of considerable pedigree. In Formula 3000 he finished ahead of Jean Alesi, the 1989 series champion who went on to a long Formula 1 career, and in the FIA GT Championship he beat Damon Hill, the 1996 Formula 1 world champion, who was also competing in that series that year.[2]

Among the regular opponents Favre encountered, he raced closely matched against fellow established professionals Paul Belmondo and Marco Apicella, both of whom had substantial careers in Formula 3000 and shared the FIA GT grid with him. Favre's work for GA Motorsports, an established endurance team that fielded Damon Hill alongside him, placed him in competitive company; the team's drivers were drawn from the professional ranks.
