🇺🇸 A.J. Foyt IV

A.J. Foyt IV was an established professional racing driver competing in single-seater and stock car championships in North America. He made 85 IndyCar starts for A.J. Foyt Enterprises between 2003 and 2009, nearly all of them on oval tracks, and briefly raced in NASCAR Xfinity in 2005 and 2006.[1]

Foyt's record across his seven-year career was one podium from 96 starts. He raced consistently in a mixed field that included both semi-professional entrants and graded professionals. His regular opponents in IndyCar were drivers of considerable standing: Helio Castroneves, a FIA Platinum professional and 2020 IMSA WeatherTech DPi champion, and Tony Kanaan, the 2004 IndyCar champion, both of whom regularly finished ahead of him. Foyt finished ahead of Dario Franchitti, a four-time IndyCar champion, on 13 occasions across their meetings; he also beat Denny Hamlin, who would go on to become an elite professional in NASCAR Cup Series, twice during Foyt's NASCAR Xfinity rounds.[2]
