Giovanni Montanari is an established professional driver who raced in International Formula 3000, a single-class open-wheel championship that mixed amateurs, semi-professionals and graded professionals in the same field. He competed for International Draco Racing in 1998, his sole season on record.[1]
Montanari took 12 starts across the full championship that year and finished 21st in the season standings. His best results came against established opposition; he finished ahead of Nick Heidfeld, a Platinum-graded driver who would win the championship the following year and go on to race Formula 1 and Formula E, and beat Gonzalo RodrÃguez, who had raced 27 rounds in the series. Against these regular opponents he typically finished behind them, and his season yielded no podiums.[2]
