Bill Cheesbourg was an American single-seater driver who raced in Formula 1 between 1957 and 1959, making three starts for Kuzma. He did not score points or finish on a podium in any of those entries. His racing record shows an average finishing position of tenth across classified starts, and he occasionally finished ahead of drivers rated considerably higher; he beat Johnnie Parsons, a professional-level competitor rated near 4,900, once, and also outfinished Al Keller and Johnnie Tolan on individual occasions.[1]
Cheesbourg's three Formula 1 starts represent a brief spell at the top level of international racing during the 1950s. His most recent recorded appearance came in 1959, when he finished twentieth. The calibre of his competition and the nature of his entries suggest he was a semi-professional driver operating at a significant remove from the front-running teams and drivers of the era. He has since retired from racing.
