Shinji Sawada is a developing amateur competing in single-seater racing. His only indexed season came in 2014, when he spent Italian F4 with Euronova Racing by Fortec Italia Motorsport, a team that fielded five drivers that year and counted an established professional among them.[1]
Sawada started three races across the championship and finished 24th in the final standings. His record in that limited campaign includes one finish ahead of Leonardo Pulcini, an established professional graded Gold by the FIA who has since raced in GP3 Series and Formula 3, and one ahead of Alain Valente, a professional with Silver grading and experience in GT World Challenge Europe and ADAC GT Masters. Against the regulars he raced most often, he typically finished behind both Pulcini and Robert Shwartzman, the latter now an established professional and 2019 Formula 3 champion with substantial experience in Formula 2 and Formula Renault Eurocup.[2]
