Thomas Byrne Jr was a club-level driver competing in American Endurance Racing, a multiclass endurance series where Class 1 production-based cars share the track with four other classes and drivers rotate through long-distance races. He raced in the series from 2019 to 2024 with 17 starts across five seasons, taking two wins and ten podiums before retiring.[1]
Byrne's record placed him among competitive amateurs in a field mixing semi-professional and graded professionals with his level. He was closely matched with David Gausman, a three-time American Endurance Racing class champion who has made 59 starts in the series; against Karsten Richards, the 2022 Class 1 and 2023 Class 2 champion with 60 starts in American Endurance Racing, Byrne more often finished ahead. His wins and podiums came against opponents including Jake Katznelson, who went on to win the 2024 Class 4 championship after 79 starts in the series, and John Wood, both beaten twice across their meetings.[2]
