Tony Shelly was a racing driver from New Zealand who competed in Formula 1 during the 1962 season. He made a single World Championship start for Lotus-Climax, finishing twentieth; he did not score points. His racing career on record consists of that single outing, after which he left the sport.[1]
Shelly drove for a Lotus team that would become known for producing some of the era's finest single-seater machinery, though his own participation was brief. After racing, he became a businessman in Hawaii, eventually owning a BMW dealership and taking American citizenship in 1975. He maintained residences in both Honolulu and New Zealand until his death.[2]
