William Shawhan raced at club level in NASA, a national multiclass championship in the United States that fields amateurs and professionals in the same race. He drove a BMW 325is in GTS2 and Spec E30 classes across nine seasons from 2011 to 2020, accumulating 48 starts for a small team that fielded two drivers and won once across the whole index.[1]
Shawhan took one win and three podiums over his career. His most recent season, 2020, brought a podium finish but he ended the year 38th in championship points. Against his regular opponents, he usually finished behind Bennett McMicking, a club-level driver with 153 NASA starts, while Raymond Zanotto, also club level with 75 starts, proved more closely matched. Shawhan occasionally beat entry-level professional drivers including Sean Quinlan and Aristotle Balogh, both FIA Bronze-graded and significantly more experienced in NASA and IMSA racing.[2]
