Who wins at Barber Motorsports Park? 372 races, 22 years, and the drivers with the best record

Barber Motorsports Park has hosted 372 indexed races since 2004 across 27 series. Here are the drivers with the most wins there, which championships visit, and what the record shows.

Barber Motorsports Park in Leeds, Alabama has hosted 372 races in this index since 2004. Twenty-seven different series, 1,496 drivers.

Nobody has won there more than five times.

That is the first thing the record says, and it is unusual. Most circuits with two decades of racing have somebody who owns the place. Barber does not.

The most wins at Barber

Four drivers are tied on five, from very different championships.

Kenton Koch511GT World Challenge America, GT4 America, IMSA
Michael Skeen44NASA

Justin Draper has the perfect record. Five starts at Barber, five wins, all in PCA Club Racing across 2004 and 2006. Michael Skeen is the other unbeaten one, four from four in NASA in 2007 and 2008.

Both of those runs are short and old. Curt Swearingin won five from nine across two championships that share almost no machinery, and Kenton Koch is the only driver on the list to have won at Barber in a professional sports car championship, a national GT series and a club series.

Which championships actually race there

Barber is best known outside the paddock for IndyCar. There is no IndyCar in this record at all. What the index holds is a club circuit that the junior ladder passes through.

SCCA on its own accounts for 116 of the 372 races. Add PCA, NASA and BMW CCA and club racing is more than half of everything the circuit has hosted.

That is why no driver dominates. Club entries turn over every few years, and a visiting championship runs one weekend and leaves. The most races any single driver has started at Barber in one weekend is four.

The strongest drivers to have raced there

Rating is the index's cross-series measure, so a junior single-seater visitor and a club regular sit on one scale. The six highest-rated drivers with a Barber start are all IndyCar drivers now. Every one of them raced there on the way up.

Kyffin Simpson5,912US F4 2020, Indy Pro 2000 2021
Carlos Munoz5,601Indy NXT, 2012

Newgarden and Munoz have one Barber start each. O'Ward has four, Simpson six. None of them appear on the wins list, because a ladder driver passes through once or twice and a club regular comes back for years.

What the index does not cover

Barber opened in 2003 and this record starts in 2004. Coverage before about 2012 is thin and weighted toward whichever series published results in a form we could read.

Practice and qualifying are not indexed at all, so "starts" here means race starts. Lap times are not held either, which is why there is nothing about the circuit record on this page.

The 2.38-mile layout has been in use throughout, so the results across all 22 years are comparable in a way they are not at circuits that reconfigured.
