Angelo Fontana is a semi-professional endurance and sportscar driver, rated 3,125; this places him among competitive amateur drivers who win regularly in pro-am fields and run mid-pack against full professionals. The FIA grades him Bronze, the amateur classification for GT and endurance racing, denoting a gentleman driver typically competing alongside professionals rather than among them.[1]
Fontana has raced exclusively in Ferrari Challenge across four seasons from 2022 to 2025, making 15 starts for Rossocorsa. He has recorded four podium finishes but no wins, with an average finishing position of 6.6. His head-to-head record against regular rivals shows a mixed picture; he has consistently beaten Otto Blank, a fellow Bronze-graded driver, eleven times from thirteen meetings, and has a winning record against Hanno Laskowski and Danilo Del Favero. However, he has struggled against stronger competition, losing eleven of twelve races to Hendrik Viol, a former champion, and nine of twelve against Andrew Morrow. Isolated victories over higher-rated drivers such as Viol, Michael Verhagen and Claus Zibrandtsen, another former champion, demonstrate occasional competitive moments against more accomplished professionals.
In 2025, his fourth season, Fontana has taken one podium from five rounds and finished P18 in the championship. His team, Rossocorsa, has fielded 17 drivers across the index with a championship-winning calibre headlined by Federico Al Rifai at 3,832; Fontana's performances sit below that standard. Recent activity indicates he remains actively racing in the series.
