Moses Smith was an American single-seater driver who raced in the Star Mazda Championship across three seasons from 2002 to 2004. His Racer Rating of 4,251 places him at the professional level; this means he was a front-runner capable of beating semi-professional drivers and holding his own against established competitors, though not at the elite standard of the sport's championship contenders. Over 26 starts, Smith won 6 races and finished on the podium 12 times, averaging a finishing position of 7.6 across all classified starts.[1]

Smith's competitive record reveals a driver who dominated against the bulk of his regular rivals. In 25 shared races against Steve Cook, Dan Weyland, and John Faulkner, he finished ahead of all three by large margins; his head-to-head records against these opponents were 23–2, 22–2, and 21–3 respectively. His most challenging regular opponent was Luis Schiavo, the 2003 Star Mazda champion; despite Schiavo's superior rating and title, Smith's record against him was near-even across 21 races, finishing ahead in 10 encounters and behind in 11. More impressively, Smith recorded eight victories against Michael McDowell, who went on to win the 2004 Star Mazda Championship and hold an elite professional rating. He also beat Scott Speed, a Platinum-graded driver and 2004 Formula Renault Eurocup champion, three times in their shared races.[2]

Smith's pace declined noticeably in his final season; he recorded just one podium finish across the 2004 campaign and ended the year in sixth place in the standings. He retired after 2004 and has not raced since.
