🇺🇸 Jon Brownson

Jon Brownson is an entry-level professional racing in national solo and crewed prototype series in the United States and occasional international endurance events. Graded FIA Bronze, he competes primarily in IMSA's national prototype championships, driving LMP3 prototypes in the Prototype Challenge and related classes. His main team has been Eurosports Racing, which fielded him for 33 of his 111 career starts.[1]

Brownson's racing spans from 2002, when he began in Star Mazda, through the present day across six indexed series. He took one win in the IMSA Prototype Challenge between 2017 and 2022, where he also claimed four podiums in 32 starts. His most active recent series is the Prototype Winter Series, begun in 2024, where he has already recorded four podiums in ten starts for DKR Engineering. He has also contested the Le Mans Cup and Road to Le Mans endurance events, mixing amateur and professional fields in shared-car racing.[2]

Brownson races in fields mixing amateur and semi-professional entrants with graded professionals. He usually finishes behind John Faulkner, a Star Mazda regular with over 50 starts in that series, and runs closely matched with Brian Thienes, a Bronze-graded entry-level professional who has raced extensively across Star Mazda, the Prototype Challenge and VP Racing SportsCar Challenge. He has once finished ahead of Kyle Kirkwood, an elite professional and multiple-time Indy champion, and once ahead of Michael McDowell, a Gold-graded established professional and 2004 Star Mazda champion; these remain outliers in a record otherwise built against peers of his own level.
