Arthur Legat was a Belgian racing driver who competed in Formula 1 during the early years of the World Championship. He made two starts in the series across 1952 and 1953, both for the Veritas team. His sole classified finish came at the 1953 season finale, where he completed the race in twentieth position. He scored no championship points during his Formula 1 career.[1]
Legat's record places him among amateur drivers competing against professional fields. His average finishing position of thirteenth across starts reflects the competitive depth of the grids he entered. In his limited time in the championship, he managed to finish ahead of Tony Gaze and Robert O'Brien on single occasions; Gaze, in particular, was a considerably stronger driver by rating. Legat was part of the Veritas effort, a constructor that fielded fifteen drivers but never won a race in the championship, with Hans Herrmann its strongest driver by a significant margin.[2]
