Butch Isom was an entry-level professional racing in NASCAR Xfinity, a single-class national stock car championship that fields amateurs, semi-professionals and graded professionals together. He competed exclusively on oval circuits across six starts spread over four seasons from 1982 to 1985.[1]
His NASCAR Xfinity career spanned 1982 through 1985 with minimal activity; he accumulated six oval starts and finished 33rd in points in his final season of 1985. He finished ahead of Rick Mast once and beat Charlie Luck, a professional who also raced in GT World Challenge America, on one occasion; his regular opponents were Dale Jarrett and Tommy Houston, both entry-level professionals with far more extensive Xfinity experience, and he typically finished behind them.[2]
