Charlie Luck is a professional driver competing in national multiclass endurance racing. He raced in NASCAR Xfinity as a solo driver from 1982 to 1986, then returned to competition in 2019 with a single IMSA Pilot Challenge start before joining Wright Motorsports for a full season in GT World Challenge America's Pro-Am class, driving a Porsche GT3, in 2023. He holds an FIA Bronze rating, the amateur grade within sportscar racing.[1]
Luck's record spans 110 starts across three series. His primary experience came in NASCAR Xfinity over five seasons, where he made 105 starts almost entirely on oval tracks and took two podiums, finishing 12th in the 1986 championship standings. He then contested a single IMSA Pilot Challenge round in 2019 before his move to GT World Challenge America in 2023, where he scored a podium in four starts for Wright Motorsports, an established team that has fielded 43 drivers including the established professional Matt Campbell.[2]
In NASCAR Xfinity, Luck regularly raced against entry-level and professional drivers but typically finished behind competitors including Tommy Houston and Dale Arnold Jarrett, both of whom made considerably more starts in the series. He did beat the established professional Sam Ard six times across their meetings. His single GT World Challenge America podium came in a field mixing amateur and semi-professional entrants with graded professionals including the FIA Gold-rated Kenton Koch, whom Luck finished ahead of in that outing.
