Del Monte took seven starts across the 2008 FIA GT Championship season and finished 26th in the final standings. His primary competitors were established professionals including Michael Bartels, a three-time FIA GT champion with 68 starts in the series, and Fabrizio Gollin, the 2004 FIA GT champion. Del Monte finished behind both drivers as a rule, though he beat Gollin twice and took a single victory over Patrick Long, a Platinum-graded professional who would go on to race extensively in IMSA and the World Endurance Championship.[2]
