George Amick was an established professional racing in Formula 1, a single-class international championship that ran solo drivers in single-seaters across a broad field ranging from amateurs to graded professionals. His only indexed season came in 1958, when he drove for Epperly.[1]
Amick made a single Formula 1 start in 1958 and finished third, enough to place him 11th in the championship standings for the year. His podium came ahead of Jim Rathmann and Tony Bettenhausen, both established professionals with substantial Formula 1 records of their own. Epperly, the team that fielded him, won twice across its entire indexed history and counted Rathmann among its drivers.[2]
