Gonzalo Aponte is a competitive amateur racing solo sprint events in the SCCA's multiclass national championships. He primarily competes in the STL class, which runs small-bore production-based tuner cars, and has also raced the ITS and SM classes in SCCA Regionals. His regular competitors include Danny Steyn, a four-time SCCA Majors STL champion, and Nick Leverone, the 2025 SCCA Majors STL champion.[1]
Over six seasons from 2021 to 2026, Aponte has taken 16 wins and 30 podiums from 51 starts across SCCA Regionals, SCCA Majors, and SCCA Runoffs. His strongest results come in SCCA Regionals, where he has won 14 of his 16 races. He sits third in the 2026 SCCA Runoffs so far, with more rounds still to come.[2]
Aponte typically finishes behind the established names in his regular class; he runs behind Steyn and Leverone in most meetings. He has beaten a FIA Silver-graded professional from IMSA racing twice and an entry-level professional from the SCCA circuit once, isolated results against much stronger company.
