Jim Viall was a club-level driver in American Endurance Racing, a multiclass endurance series in which each car is shared by multiple drivers rotating during the race. He competed across seven seasons from 2015 to 2021, primarily in the Class 1 and Class 2 production-car categories.[1]
Viall took four podiums from 14 starts in the series. His most recent indexed season, in 2021, yielded one start and a 36th-place points finish in the championship standings. He finished ahead of entry-level professionals Preston Brown and Christopher Matos once each, though both had considerably more extensive records in their respective series.[2]
Viall raced regularly against Dan Chadwick and Neil Halin, both club-level operators in the same series and closely matched with him throughout his career. The three formed a consistent group within the amateur and semi-professional contingent of a field that also included graded professionals competing in the same races.
