John Borneman III is a professional stock car racing driver who competed in NASCAR Xfinity, the national single-class oval championship in the United States. He raced for Borneman Motorsports, the team he owned, across five seasons from 2004 to 2010 with 20 starts on oval circuits.[1]
Borneman finished 36th in the final NASCAR Xfinity championship standings in 2010, his last season of racing. His record in the series placed him among part-time entrants in a field that mixed amateurs, semi-professionals and established professionals. He finished ahead of Kevin Harvick once and Tony Stewart once across his career, both established professionals with far more extensive records in the series and elsewhere in stock car racing.[2]
His most regular opponents were Kyle Busch and Jason Leffler, both established professionals whom he typically finished behind. Busch went on to win the 2009 NASCAR Xfinity championship and later the 2019 NASCAR Cup Series title, while Leffler was a prolific competitor in the Xfinity series with 294 starts there.
