John Nicholson was a racing driver from Auckland, New Zealand who competed in Formula 1 during the 1975 season. He made a single championship start for Lyncar, finishing 22nd in the race and failing to score points. His solitary outing placed him among drivers of modest competitive standing; he finished ahead of Dave Morgan, a driver of similar calibre, on that one occasion, and also ahead of Wilson Fittipaldi, a much stronger professional-level competitor, in the same race.[1]
Nicholson's racing career on record consisted entirely of that single Formula 1 appearance. He retired from racing after the 1975 season.[2]
