🏳️ Max Coates

Max Coates is an entry-level professional racing single-seater Porsches in the Porsche Carrera Cup GB for Graves Motorsport. His career on record spans from 2015, when he made four starts in the BTCC, to his current full-season campaign in the Carrera Cup. He also contested the 24H Series in 2018, finishing on the podium in its multiclass endurance format.[1]

In the 2026 Porsche Carrera Cup GB season, now underway across 14 rounds, Coates has taken one win and two podiums and sits seventh in the championship standings. This represents the bulk of his active racing; his four BTCC starts in 2015 came without a podium finish, and his single 24H Series outing for Ciceley Motorsport yielded a shared-car podium in its A2 production touring car class. His sole win to date came in the Carrera Cup.[2]

Coates races regularly against professionals with substantially more experience. Callum Voisin, a GB3 champion and FIA Silver graded driver with 45 Formula 3 starts and 40 GB3 starts to his name, competes in the same series and has finished ahead of Coates in most of their meetings; Coates has beaten him twice. Isaac Phelps, another regular opponent with 21 GB4 starts, has typically finished ahead of him as well. Coates has also raced against Adam Morgan, an FIA Silver professional with 353 BTCC starts, and finished ahead of him once.
