Julie Bailey is a developing amateur racer who competed in PCA Club Racing, a domestic multiclass championship that fields amateurs, semi-professionals and graded professionals in the same race. She drove Porsches in the SP1 class across seven seasons from 2011 to 2017.[1]
Bailey made 69 starts across her career and took five podiums, finishing 17th in the final championship standings in 2017. She typically raced against club-level regulars and usually finished behind them; Chris Blazer and Steve Coomes, both PCA Club Racing stalwarts with over 100 starts apiece in the series, were her most frequent competitors.[2]
Her most notable results came against drivers who moved on to higher levels of racing. Philip Hanson, now an established professional and FIA Gold graded driver who has raced in the World Endurance Championship and European Le Mans Series, finished behind Bailey on four occasions. Maurice Smith, a professional who won the 2021 Le Mans Cup LMP3 championship and the 2022 European Le Mans Series LMP3 title, was beaten by Bailey three times when they shared PCA Club Racing entries.
