🇬🇧 Matthew Rees

Matthew Rees is a professional British racing driver competing in single-class national sprint championships. He raced for JHR Developments in British F4 and GB3 from 2021 to 2023, driving open-wheel cars against mixed fields of amateurs and graded professionals. He holds an FIA Silver rating, which places him below the full-professional Gold and Platinum grades within sportscar and endurance racing.[1]

Rees won the 2021 British F4 championship with four wins across 28 starts and finished fifth in GB3 in 2023 with one win from 21 rounds. His record across both series spans 69 starts, yielding six wins and 19 podiums. He beat the 2022 British F4 champion Alex Dunne eight times and finished ahead of Luke Browning, an established professional and Gold-graded driver who won the 2020 British F4 title and the 2022 GB3 championship, on six occasions.[2]

Rees raced most consistently against McKenzy Cresswell and James Hedley, both regular opponents in his series. Cresswell, a professional with Formula 3 experience, proved closely matched across their meetings. Hedley, an entry-level professional, competed alongside Rees throughout both championships and remained competitive in their head-to-head encounters. JHR Developments, his sole team across the indexed record, has fielded 37 drivers and taken 60 wins; Cresswell has been its strongest performer.
