🇬🇧 James Hedley

James Hedley is an entry-level professional racing driver competing in single-seater championships. He races for Van Amersfoort Racing in the FIA Formula 3 Championship, a multiclass series run across Europe, and has spent the bulk of his career in British single-seaters with Fortec Motorsports in British F4 and Chris Dittmann Racing in GB3.[1]

Hedley's record spans six seasons from 2020 onwards. He began in British F4, where he took eight wins and fifteen podiums across two seasons with Fortec, establishing himself as a regular frontrunner in that national championship. He then moved to GB3, where he raced for four seasons with Chris Dittmann Racing and claimed two wins from 53 starts; he finished 13th in the 2024 championship standings after collecting two podiums across twelve rounds. He stepped up to Formula 3 in 2024 and has completed 16 starts so far with Van Amersfoort Racing, continuing in the series into 2025. Across all three series he has accumulated 118 starts, ten wins and 21 podiums.[2]

Hedley races regularly against professional drivers at his own level. He was closely matched throughout his career with McKenzy Cresswell, a FIA Silver-graded professional active across all three series, and Matthew Rees, the 2021 British F4 champion, in head-to-head competition in GB3 and British F4. He has also finished ahead of Alex Dunne, a former 2022 British F4 champion and a much stronger driver who went on to race in Formula 2, on four occasions; and twice beaten Rafael Câmara, the 2024 Formula Regional European champion and current 2025 Formula 3 champion. Fortec Motorsports, the team fielding him in his breakthrough years, has won 113 races in the index and has developed drivers ranging to generational level.
