Matías Zagazeta is a professional driver racing in GT World Challenge Europe for AF Corse, competing in endurance races shared between multiple drivers. He holds an FIA Silver grading, which places him below the full-professional grades in sportscar racing. Zagazeta began his career in British F4 in 2017 and has competed across five series over nine seasons, with 135 starts on record.[1]

His record across the junior categories shows modest success against mixed amateur and professional fields. In British F4 between 2020 and 2021, he won four races and scored eleven podiums across 49 starts. He then raced Formula Regional European for two seasons from 2022, taking 37 starts without a podium finish. His move to Formula 3 in 2024 yielded a single podium from 38 starts across two seasons with DAMS Lucas Oil. He has now stepped into GT World Challenge Europe, where he is in his first season with ten starts recorded.[2]

In Formula 3 and Formula Regional European, Zagazeta regularly faced established professionals including Roman Bilinski and Laurens van Hoepen, both of whom progressed to Formula 2 and finished ahead of him consistently. He has one career victory each against elite professionals Arvid Lindblad, a Platinum-graded driver with 20 Formula 3 starts, and Franco Colapinto, who raced in Formula 1, though these were isolated results rather than patterns. The bulk of his record comes from single-driver sprint racing in national and international open-wheel championships before his transition to shared-car endurance competition in 2026.
