Markus Palttala is a Finnish racing driver who began his career in the Finnish Touring Car Championship in 1998 before moving into grand touring competition. He made his first appearance in GT machinery in 2000 in the single-make Porsche Carrera Cup Germany, and also competed in the European Super Production Championship in 2001 driving a Honda Integra. Palttala went on to build a substantial resume in international GT racing, competing in the FIA GT Championship from 2002 and continuing sporadically through 2009, before moving into the FIA GT1 World Championship and FIA GT3 European Championship, in which he raced through 2011. His most notable stretch of form came with Marc VDS Racing Team in the Blancpain Endurance Series, where he finished runner-up in the championship in both 2011 and 2012.[1]
In IMSA WeatherTech competition, Palttala is recorded with NTE/SSR, having made 11 career starts that yielded one win and one podium finish, though no championships. His Racer Rating stands at 4,135, placing him 483rd among active drivers on a scale where the leading competitors sit in the 10,000 to 11,500 range, reflecting a career of modest but genuine achievement rather than sustained frontrunning form. In the 2026 season, Palttala competed in a single round without recording a win or podium, leaving him 224th in the standings. His record now stands as retired, closing out a long career that spanned touring cars, single-make series, and top-level international GT racing before its final chapter in North American sports car competition.[2]
