Matthew Richard races at club level, competing in SCCA multiclass championships in the United States. He drives a spec Mazda MX-5 Miata in the SM class and runs mixed closed-wheel cars in the BIT class. Richard has been active since 2021 and currently races for SCCA Regionals.[1]

Across four seasons, Richard has made 20 starts; his 2021 and 2022 campaign in SCCA Majors produced 8 entries, while SCCA Regionals from 2022 onwards account for the remaining 12. He currently sits 21st in the 2025 SCCA Regionals championship standings after three rounds. In a multiclass field mixing amateurs with semi-professionals and graded professionals, Richard typically finishes behind his most regular opponents; Michael LaMaina, a club-level driver with 145 SCCA Regionals starts, and John Hotz, a competitive amateur with 159 SCCA Regionals starts, are both more consistent finishers. Richard has taken one podium against Jake Walker, a professional-level driver competing in IMSA series and Lamborghini Super Trofeo, and one against Nathan Saxon, an entry-level professional with SCCA and Racing Prodigy experience.[2]
